Sewage & Wastewater Management
Protecting our environment and ensuring public health are top priorities in the Summer Village of Sunset Beach. To uphold these standards, the Village has enacted Bylaw 144-25, the Wastewater and Sewage Compliance Bylaw , which aligns with federal and provincial regulations governing wastewater and sewage disposal.
What This Means for Residents:
-
Permits Required: Before installing, altering, or operating any wastewater or sewage system on your property, you must obtain the necessary permits and approvals from the Inspections Group and, if required, from the Summer Village of Sunset Beach.
-
System Inspections: The Village may conduct inspections of private wastewater and sewage systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
-
Compliance Enforcement: Non-compliance with the bylaw or applicable regulations may result in fines, penalties, or other legal actions. If a system poses a health or environmental hazard, the Village may take corrective actions, including issuing notices to remedy or requiring system repairs or upgrades.
