Noise: Respecting Peace and Quiet at Sunset Beach
The Summer Village of Sunset Beach is a place where residents and visitors come to relax, enjoy nature, and spend peaceful time by the lake.
To help protect the quiet enjoyment of our community, the Village has a Noise Bylaw in place.
Everyone shares the responsibility of being a good neighbor and keeping noise levels respectful.
General Noise Rules:
-
Unnecessary, loud, or disruptive noise that disturbs others is prohibited at all times.
-
Quiet hours are from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. During this time:
-
No construction, loud music, shouting, or loud machinery is allowed.
-
Generators, landscaping equipment, and other noisy devices should not be operated during quiet hours unless in an emergency.
-
-
Vehicle Noise: Excessively loud vehicle operation (revving engines, squealing tires, modified exhausts) is not allowed.
Construction Noise:
-
Construction activities that create loud noise (e.g., hammering, drilling, machinery) are allowed only between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
-
No construction noise is permitted outside these hours without prior approval from the Summer Village.
Special Events:
-
If you are planning a special event (such as a gathering or celebration) that may create more noise than usual, we encourage you to notify your neighbors ahead of time and be mindful of the time.
-
Prolonged or excessive noise during special events may still be subject to enforcement under the Noise Bylaw.
Complaints and Enforcement:
-
Noise complaints can be reported to the Summer Village or to local enforcement services.
-
Fines or other penalties may be issued for violations of the Noise Bylaw.
Let’s Work Together:
A little courtesy goes a long way.
Please be mindful of noise, especially during early mornings, late evenings, and weekends, to help preserve the peaceful atmosphere that makes Sunset Beach such a wonderful place to live and visit.
Thank you for doing your part to keep Sunset Beach peaceful and welcoming!
